Super Junior member Choi Siwon is thanking his fans for helping push viewer ratings for his new drama She Was Pretty past the 10% share mark.
The latest two episodes for the drama, episodes 5 and 6, which aired on September 30 and October 1, respectively, gained more than 10% viewer ratings based on TNmS and AGB data.
Viewer ratings have been climbing steadily from the 7-8% viewer ratings in the first three so episodes.
Siwon thanked fans with a special shout-out on his Instagram.
“‘She was beautiful’ has continuously received high viewer ratings, and recorded 10 percent last night! Thank you so much for all :)” said the idol on October 1.
She Was Pretty currently airs on the Korean broadcasting station MBC on Wednesdays and Thursdays at the 21:55 time slot. It is scheduled to finish airing in November.
Siwon co-stars in the romantic comedy series as the quirky features editor with a mysterious background, and becomes fast buddies with the female lead character, a fashion magazine assistant played by Hwang Jung Eum. Park Seo Joon and Go Jun Hee round out the headliner cast.
Siwon has been drawing rave reviews from fans for his lively and funny portrayal of his character. Siwon is not a stranger to acting, having been cast in a flurry of movie and drama roles in the past year. This year, in particular, he has racked up acting credits in China.
But the critical and popular success of She Was Pretty is a bittersweet moment for fans given the knowledge that this will be the last acting project for Siwon before he enlists in the military later in the year.
She Was Pretty has doubled in viewer ratings in just five episodes.
On the fifth episode of MBC′s She Was Pretty, which aired on September 30, Hwang Jung Eum′s identity as Park Seo Joon′s first love was on the cusp of being exposed.
Hwang Jung Eum discovers Park Seo Joon in the rain, suffering from a panic attack caused by a past traumatic event, and while attempting to calm him down, Park Seo Joon recalls memories of his first love.
The fifth episode recorded 10.7 percent (Nielsen Korea) in viewer ratings, which is double the ratings the first episode recorded.
In last night′s episode, Kim Hye Jin (Hwang Jung Eum) discovers Ji Sung Joon (Park Seo Joon) soaked from the rain and shaking on the street from a panic attack. She gets off the bus and rushes over to Sung Joon, and remembering the trauma he suffers from rainy days, takes off her hoodie to cover him.
Hye Jin then looks into Sung Joon′s panicked eyes and tries to calm him down, saying “Look over here. Nothing′s going to happen. It′s okay..It′s okay..” Sung Joon then sees flashes of the Hye Jin from his childhood through the Hye Jin in front of him, leaving viewers to wonder if he realizes the truth about Hye Jin′s identity.
Viewers responded with comments like ′Hwang Jung Eum, are you finally getting into love mode? Looking forward to it!′ ′Did he finally recognize the real Hye Jin, his first love? So curious!′ ′Hwang Jung Eum, her appearance may have changed, but her heart is the same, so he′s going to figure it out soon!′ and ′Totally had a heart attack when Hye Jin and Sung Joon made eye contact.′
Meanwhile, episode six of MBC′s She Was Pretty airs tonight at 10 p.m. KST.
