Super Junior holds concert at Tokyo Dome, interacts closely with 110,000 fans – From 120514

Setting Seoul as their starting point, Korean idol group Super Junior has successfully held their tour at locations which includes Taipei, Singapore, Macau, Bangkok, Paris, Shanghai, and Jakarta. Last weekend (12th & 13th of May), they descended upon Japan’s Tokyo Dome, and interacted closely with 110,000 fans.

Despite not having made their official Japanese debut, and have never held any promotional activities prior to this, Super Junior was able to stand upon the dream destination of the Japanese music industry – Tokyo Dome’s stage. Following their sold-out performance in Osaka last year, they were able to break yet another record for their ticketing sales. Their explosive popularity in Japan absolutely cannot be underestimated.

According to reports, the tickets to Super Junior’s concerts were difficult to obtain, and their concert this time had a whopping 400,000 fans who wished to purchase tickets. The fans who were unable to see their idols made a request to the organiser to add more sessions (of the concert), and even the seats which did not have a particularly nice view were snapped up as well, once again proving the sky-high popularity of the group. On both days of the concert, the concert venue was thronged by a large number of fans who wanted to catch a glimpse of their idols beginning early in the morning. Holding blue towels and t-shirts printed with the members’ names, the entire venue was submerged in a sea of blue.

On the day of the concert, Super Junior opened the show with “Superman”, which was then followed by “Opera” that was recently released in Japan on the 9th (of May). Later on, they also performed the Japanese versions of songs such as “Mr. Simple”, “Perfection”, “Oppa, Oppa”, and more. Aside from that, Super Junior’s labelmates f(x) made an appearance with “Pinocchio (Danger)”, and also performed the song “Oops” with the Super Junior members, earning continuous cheers from the fans.

Throughout the three-and-a-half hour concert, the fans would stand up from time to time. When the music for “Sorry Sorry” began to play, all the fans sang the song in unison. During the ending, when the Super Junior members sang the encore song “Way”, there were fans who started crying. The members also thanked the fans for their encouragement and support.

In addition to this, Super Junior will also hold their encore concert at the Seoul Olympic Park Gymnastics Arena on the 26th and 27th.
