Shinhwa‘s Hyesung chose Super Junior as the hoobae that will last as long as Shinhwa.

Shinhwa is famous for being the longest-lasting idol group debuting in 1998 and will hit their 15th anniversary next year in March. As Hyesung promotes his solo album ‘Winter Poetry‘, he was recently asked which hoobae group reminds him most of Shinhwa. Hyesung answered, “When I see Super Junior, I get Shinhwa-like vibes from them. I think they’re the hoobaes that will last as long as Shinhwa.” Hyesung chose ‘communication’ as the biggest reason to the longevity for their group.

Super Junior debuted back in 2005 and is currently in their 7th year. They’re one of the few ’2nd generation’ idols that are still intact as a full group. Do you agree with Hyesung that they will last as long as Shinhwa?

Leeteuk and Sangchu recruited to National Defense Public Relations – From 121204

Super Junior‘s Leeteuk and Mighty Mouth‘s Sangchu have been recruited as workers in the National Defense Public Relations department.

Both Leeteuk and Sangchu were recruited first from the Ministry of Defense. The two did not formally participate in the auditions for the selection of the 4th round of National Defense Public Relations Workers, but were recruited directly from the Ministry of Defense.

Leeteuk will be leaving his original post on the 6th, and will be active as a National Defense Public Relations Worker. One of his new tasks will be working on the musical ‘The Promise‘ with Ji Hyun Woo and Kim Moo Yeol.

Super Junior ranks #1 on Japan’s Tower Records K-Pop Top 20 list for 2012 – From 121204

Super Junior has ranked #1 overall on Japan’s Tower Records ‘2012 K-Pop Top 20‘ chart. While 2PM charted #1 on the singles chart, and Girls’ Generation charted on top of the DVD chart.

Tower Records released a total of 31 charts on December 4th for the year of 2012, including genres such as K-Pop, Japanese music, Western music, and Classical music. The charts were calculated with data collected up to November 30th. Tower Records commented, “In 2012, K-pop advanced not only in Japan and other parts of Asia, but all across the globe. Concerts were held all over America and Europe, and the popularity of the artists’ has increased.”

Super Junior’s Eunhyuk starred in MBC “Come to Play” on December 3 and shared a story about getting voted the ugliest member in the group.

“All the members voted for me. I was #1 with the group’s full support,” Eunhyuk said, as he said it was one of the very few moments he topped the group in a survey.

He later explained the votes came strictly based on the shape of each member’s nose, eyes, ears and mouth, and not necessarily the facial appearance as a whole. He added, “Fans later gave me encouraging words, saying I looked better than Siwon. But none of those words really helped (because I knew they’re lying).”

Eunhyuk was later asked to pick Super Junior members he thought had worse appearances than him. First, he pickedShindong, saying, “It’s not even a member of gaining weight or not. He’s just not better looking than me.” Ryeowookwas the second member he picked, as he said, “Well, at least he can sing.”

Finally, Eunhyuk picked Ye Sung, and said, “He really hates me talking about his appearance. He would even follow me backstage.”

On December 4, the producers of the musical “The Promise” unveiled its official poster. As reported earlier, “The Promise” is a military-produced musical featuring some of the currently enlisted celebrities, including Leeteuk, Ji Hyun Woo, and 8eight’s Lee Hyun.

“The Promise” is scheduled to be held from January 9 to 20 at the National Theater in Seoul. The storyline is about 7 soldiers fighting to survive during the Korean War. Produced by the Ministry of National Defense, “The Promise” is being produced to commemorate the 60^th anniversary of the Korean War.

The Defense Ministry produced its last musical in 2010 titled “Sailing for Life,” featuring Lee Jun Ki and Joo Ji Hoon. In 2009, they also produced “MINE,” the show that had Kangta, Yang Dong Geun, and Jae Hee on its main cast.
