This post note is not a report, it only record of what I have experienced, seen, heard, and what I can tell for you to know.
I have never written a post note, this first time, is done due to the unbearable suffering.
SBS live allows 2 types of entry, one is to apply directly to SBS, there are 300 tickets, each person will get 2 tickets. Another type, is through the company (in this case SME), total 500 tickets, for all of SM artists.
I didn’t managed to get either, so (I) decided to go to SBS and queue directly the second day. I slept till 11am, suddenly heard that SBS has already pre-recorded SJ’s performance, while there were only about 10+ ELF at the venue. Because no one was given any notice. Neither SBS & SM’s staff made any announcement. This is the reason why those who watched the live on TV find it’s so quiet, there almost wasn’t any fanchant, and had not seen any sapphire blue lights.
Was planning to reach there at 4pm with friends, in the end we received news that SBS is going to re-record at 2pm, so we rushed there immediately. We really hope there is a re-record. When we reach the venue, every fandom is already queuing. We had been asking SM Staff repeatedly when we were queuing, asking them where should ELF be queuing, Staff almost didn’t even bother about us, every time, they only reply with “just stand here for a while, we will tell you later”, but they never did. In between, they were even chatting with other fans. Until all other fandoms had their lines form, then they return to tell us to queue right at the back.
Other fandoms were given fan support items, from towels, balloons to lighted red horns, we have nothing.
When we entered, the difference between our numbers is already about 40 lesser than the fandom who has the most allocations, but we were further split out into each of the pits where we were mixed up with other fandom.
I can safely said, the most “can make do without” fans yesterday, were ELF, and even more “can do without” idol, will be none other than our Suju.
Before the start of the show, SBS staff told us Suju will be the last to perform (all the ELF in the venue can swear we heard it), but the truth is something everyone can see on TV, our boys were not. Because there wasn’t any fan support items allocated, and SBS only distribute normal lightsticks (only White, Yellow & Red three colours), when ELF noticed that the white lightsticks somehow give out tinted blue glow when switched on, every ELF in the scene were fighting to ask staff for it “please give me the white one, please give me more”.
Maybe, in the eyes of other fandoms, this looks like a very childish and common behavior, but at that point of time, every ELF was thinking : We must let them see us, ELF is still working very hard to give them the support. At that time, every ELF was holding 3, or even 5 lightsticks on each hand.
From 6pm since we entered, where there was a SM Special stage pre-recorded, we have not seen SJ performed. It was supposed to end at 12.45pm, SJ, other than the opening stage and a pre-recorded Mr Simple live performance, they were all along been squeezing at the VIP seats watching other perform, entertaining themselves. I can say that, for the 6 over hours, excluding waiting time, ELF, other watched that 8 over minutes, all our time were spent staring at the VIP seats.
The 2 intermezzo rest time, only SJ came out to greet ELF, Shindong even took pictures with ELF using handphones.
Till now, I do not understand why must Mr Simple be pre-recorded, SJ is not performing very frequently, and they are not the grand finale, then why must it be pre-recorded?
None of the pre-recorded performance have artists coming out to do live again, so ELF were very worried that SJ will not be performing, but only showing through the big screen. When we finally get to know that they are doing live, we have almost waited for the whole night, those injustice and unbearable feeling were almost bursting out from our lungs.
I am not exaggerating to say that when SJ appeared, ELF’s screams were of desperation. Those who claimed that the other fandom helped us in fanchants, WAKE UP. If you are there, you will know. When we were screaming our lungs out, (because I was against the side of the stage I can see the expression of some of the other fandom’s fans), they were pointing at us laughing hilariously. Is that that funny? You can laugh simply because you are not in our shoes.
We were all separated, we neither have the red horns that does not even need any raising, nor the balloons that can be seen from far, nor the official towels, the pits were also very crowded, so we spent all our might to scream, just hoping that they can see, even if there is only one ELF below, we will still do all we can to give them support.
But then again, was there any use? The pre-recorded that was used for telecast had been broadcasted, what others see in front of the TV, is a live performance with no fan support, no fanchant.
When it finally ended, when all the performers left the stage, only SJ came out to bow to every part of the stage, Teukie, Hyukkie, Sungmin, Shindong and Ryeowook all came over to bow and shake hands with ELF. At that point, I almost cried. Felt that all is worth, they understand us, they feel for us, the look with that every single bow and handshake doesn’t lie.
K ELF who were behind me were all screaming Super Junior the last man standing! They were shouting “ChweGo!”
When it ended, it was very late, but I haven’t eaten for a whole 24 hours, not even drank. I believe a lot of ELF were like me. It was freezing outside, and there was no train service, so after I went to the convenience shop with other chingus to grab some hot drinks & canned food, when I reached Chingu’s dorm, the first thing I did was to look for the video of the live performance.
When I finally see & hear the laughable live performance, I really could not take it anymore. Was crying my heart out during showering, borrow what my chingu said” What is a performance without those who appreciate”
This is also the reason why SJ were tweeting that kind of comments.
There are other details and many involve other fandoms, I will not elaborate, but this is enough.
The house of Sapphire Blue, I can only say: fanning SJ is a right choice, please love them dearly, they are worth it.

I cried while reading this… Bless those k- elfs who cheered despite of the poor conditions . Sj deserves so much… Yet, they are given so little. This is heart breaking to see that sbs staff treat them like this. I hope they are not treated this way at kbs and mbc. I, an international fan cannot give as much support as k elfs. I am really glad that sj has such devoted fans. Sj, the last men standing !!

I’m really touched by what these fans did. Even though they were seperated, they still shouted for SJ. Even though they might seem silly in other peoples’ eyes but I really find them to be so pure and true hearted. I’m seriously very touched.
And SJ came out to perform again for those fans who went at night, knowing that it will not be telecast. Other people will probably think: what are they doing? Why are they performing, noboday will see this, bla bla bla… But yet SJ came out to perform again just for those present. This simply tells us how much they appreciate ELF. It made me think back of Hyuk’s tweet: what’s year-end without ELF. They appreciate us just like how we appreciate them.
The last line in the post: Please love them dearly, they are worth it.
I don’t know why, but this is the best line I’ve ever ever ever read regarding SJ. I love Super Junior even more, if that’s even possible…

Agreed. The boys must really care for ELF as much as we do for them. The fact that they performed knowing it wouldn’t be broadcasted just to please the fans is so heartfelt that by the end of this post I began to cry.
I can’t imagine the frustration that SJ felt and I just hope that SM doesn’t destroy the other “year-end show,” Golden Disk. Let’s just hope our boys have something to look forward to and can put this behind them. This really broke my heart TT_TT

After I read the boys’s tweet I know that it’s must be
something really serious happen because our boys always polite and humble
they never blame SME (or even protect them) whatever they treat them
but this time I understand the boy’s mind, this is too much
they can’t stand for it anymore.
Their eyes always sparkling whenever they see the sapphire blue ocean
but this time E.L.F can’t be together and shouting like dying for them
even it’s look funny it other people’s eyes but it’s extremly serious

saying that ELF who were there exaggerating is like saying SUJU is exaggerating when they reacted about the situation in their tweets..for them to vent out their frustrations like that publicly,only means that the situation was very serious..SUJU has always been known to keep mum and protective of SM even if they are treated poorly..so having the guts to learn the whole WORLD know how disappointed they were only means this fan account is REAL..if you are not ELF(obviously),pray this day doesn’t come to your fandom..i don’t even know what the hell you’re doing here.

SM (and associates) are MOFO’s seriously. What did SUJU do wrong to deserve such treatment. They work hard, are dedicated to every task, love their fans, been in the industry for a very long time and are truly talented and lovely people, so why oh why do they still get treated like this. I understand this fan but please even if there were other fanclubs laughing it wasn’t everyone…I read other fan accounts and they said Inspirit were really supportive of our boys.

Super Junior the last men standing! I don’t believe so… Because I believe even right before the world ends, SuJu is not the only men standing. We, ELFs too, stand behind and support them! And they know we will from what is said in the fan account. I’m still a newbie ELF. But I know feel the strong connection between SuJu and ELFs. The unbreakable bond. Without SuJu, there will be no ELFs. And vice versa. It makes me feel so proud of being an ELF myself.
Imust I respect each and every ELF out there, international ELFs or K ELFs.

Like when we cry because GDA last year………it’s make us cheer up and do better this year.
In the future what happen at sbs gayo’ll be the past which make us stronger and more careful that we can not trust all what the channel or SME tell us. (Maybe SJ have to tweet something like we’ve pre-recording today don’t forget TT)

I too feel like bursting out with frustration, seriously what did ELFs and our dear Suju did to deserve this, someone has to slap some sense into SBS and SM.
I really feel the emotions through this, i feel for ELFs and SJ, I can’t believe it! but all i believe is that suju oppas are strong enough, stronger than them, and ELF is strong too, and we will support and cheer for them like how they cheer and support us ^^

Another artist has apologised to her fans for the way they were treated at this event and there have been complaints about the way the PD treated a number of bands. Sounds like it was an all round screw up, not just something targeted specifically at SJ.

During the live broadcasting, were there only a few ELFS in the building or more? And if there were a lot of ELFS in the building, was that cause they didn't had any SUJU fan items to show?
Was that also one of the reasons why SUJU thought there were no ELFS there during the live broadcast? (even if they already knew there were barely any ELFS during the pre-recording performance?)

SBS “sold” more tickets than there were seats for the festival. They made fans wait for hours before finally refusing entry telling many of them to go home. There were apparently scenes of distraught and sobbing fans, and the police were called.
Those present commented that some of those that were turned away were foreign fans who had specifically travelled to attend, thinking that their ticket would gain them entry.
Normally dressing rooms are divided up to accommodate sunbaes and rookies etc but SBS did not make enough room to allow for the number of artists. Many artists were forced to do costume checks, make-up checks etc in the corridors. If this wasn’t bad enough, the female duet Davichi were forced to change in public toilets. The account specifically points out that Davichi had to change their stockings and their costumes in publicly accessible toilets.
Infinite Dongwoo’s Lighting Burns: one wonders what kind of equipment was being used and how they were placed for someone on stage to be burned by it.
When SBS were informed that Dongwoo suffered burns, their reaction was apparently “So why was he standing here, then”. The account adds their own rebuttal to the producers: he had nowhere else to go because you didn’t give him a seat.
BEAST Yoseob’s Chair Incident: Yoseob was caught on camera helping to get chairs for B1A4 because the rookie group were not given seats. The questions being: why didn’t the staff do it in the first place, and why didn’t they rectify the situation by jumping in to arrange the chairs when the idols themselves, who are guests, were doing it?
Faulty microphones: there were microphone problems all night, but Infinite’s Hoya was actually given a microphone that the production team had already realised was broken.
As the rap battle sequence started, Hoya personally told the production staff that his microphone wasn’t working but he was ignored.
FT Island’s Lee Jaejin was also seen carrying chairs with his own hands, though it is not made clear for whom he was moving them. But again, what were the staff doing?
Brown Eyed Girls fans were physically refused entry for pre-recording of the Brown Eyed Girls and missed the entire segment. The reasons given were miscommunication between the security guards and the production team.
Why did SBS only schedule 1 minute stages for rookie groups? Even if their sunbaes were present, was it right to give only a minute to people who are singers in their won right?
Yoseob stood for periods of time. There is also a report that Kikwang, despite his ankle injury, was left without a seat. I’m not sure how reliable that report is.
Some fans are complaining about how some artists received 5-10 minute special stages while MBLAQ had Mona Lisa cut short and BEAST performed only one song.
A+, MBLAQ fans felt particularly persecuted: many of them were denied entry and their specified fan seating area was smaller than was promised.
There are industry people complaining that Gayo Daejun is yet again becoming an extended episode of Inkigayo. It does not celebrate Korean music and artists: it has become a “beauty pageant for idols”.
2PM were not given a dressing room and had to prepare in the corridor.
Brown Eyed Girls also did not have a dressing room.
Lee Seunggi was a main MC and is a popular singer but his fans were also not given their own seating area… and his microphone had problems, too.
Idols haven’t been silent about the issue either. This is perhaps the first time I’ve ever seen idols speak out so openly about issues at a broadcasting studio:
Bom: Thanked fans before calling the day “truthfully the worst possible day”.
Jungmo: “You all did well/struggled hard”
G.O.: Asked fans not to be too sad. Personally apologised on behalf of others for the fact that some A+ were refused entry.
Hongki: Apologised to Primadonnas for being unable to get more seats for them.
Leeteuk: Ambiguous tweet. Some people are taking it as him criticising SM, others are criticising SBS. (Various fandoms, including ELF and Shawol were unable to get access to the SM Orchestra pre-recording).
There’s also an account posted by someone who claims to have talked to the jimmyjib camera operator from SBS Gayo Daejun who goes into far more detail about the individual incidents.

WOW I read this and all throughout the reading my mouth was hanging open. This is just ridiculous!! How is it possible that things like these are going on?!?!?! Specially comming from a company like SBS. This is just extremely unprofessional and I am slightly comforted by the fact that we are not the only ones suffering by the injustices of the company. We seriously need to gather and show these companies that the idols are not just money making machines and that they need to be treated better. I’m just gonna stop here cause i still cant believe this actually happened.
