SME No longer to print Mr Simple Version A……

A Korean ELF went to visit a Hottracks store late in November. She said that one of the employee’s computers was on, and the screen revealed Mr. Simple Version A stocks within every Hottracks store. Here’s what it read:
Gangnam: 14 albums
Jamsil: 9 albums
Anyang: 10 albums
Changwon: 1 albums
Jeonju: 5 albums
Bundang: 11 albums
Busan: 18 albums
Mokdong: 3 albums
Cheonan: 8 albums
Centum City: 19 albums
Seongnam: 3 albums
Yeongdeongpo: 24 albums
Sooyoo: 1 albums
Daegu: 2 albumsShe said that she was greatly surprised with how low the stocks were, and after finding out about the recent news ofSM’s decision to no longer print Mr. Simple Version A, she became shocked. SM’s excuse was that it was “too difficult to print”. This is an outrageous excuse, and no entertainment company simply stops printing their artist’s albums due to “difficulties”.
Furthermore, Super Junior has sold 480,000 albums total. Super Junior openly expressed that they wanted to sell 500,000 albums. SM deciding to suddenly stop printing the group’s albums keeps them from reaching this goal. The boys are also going into a two year hiatus, and the future is of course unpredictable… Leeteuk even said that the MAMA award could possibly be Super Junior’s last award, resulting with the rest of the group in tears—even Super Junior questions how long their popularity will last. SM is not helping with this matter.
SM obviously has other intentions as to why they won’t print Mr. Simple Version A albums anymore. These are for reasons unknown; but I think we have enough evidence to conclude that something is wrong. An entertainment treats their artists right, be it one artist under their label or fifty. It isn’t a competition about who gets better treatment. It’s about an entertainment becoming ridiculous and unjust.
Since November, there have been barely any Mr. Simple Version A albums in stores all over South Korea. There’s about a total of 100 throughout the entire nation. They might all be gone now. There are ELF who probably willnever be able to buy a Mr. Simple album because of this.

I would probably raid SMTOWN’s facebook page and ask for the true reason as to why SM decided to stop printing Mr. Simple Version A albums. Version A was our key to winning the Golden Disk… no, not even that… It was the main album. And it’s only been four months since SM started to reproduce this album! Stores all over South Korea even have Super Junior-05 albums! SM decided to use the Mr. Simple album design and cover, it was their decision. So it is their price to pay.
It is their job to reprint albums whether they like it or not. They can’t simply stop because it’s “too hard on them”. The fans demand it. No SM, this isn’t about you. This is about what your customers want and what your artists need. We won’t accept selfishness, greed, and whatever else your company is playing at. We won’t go down without a fight.
As a K-ELF always says, “이렇게 쉽게 포기한다고 누가그래?”…”Who said we would give up this easily?” Because we won’t.

I agree with what you say. This is not the first time we find out that SME is not being fair to SJ. At first is really frustration, thinking about how can they treat them like this. But now, it’s like totally disappointed. This is their last time before they go for hiatus, can’t they just play it fair?

I can’t even think of an only reason why they would do this to Super Junior. They say SME is biased… but this is going too far, don’t you think? It’s like a child getting tired of a toy.
And I don’t want to believe SM got tired of them, because they can’t be done yet!They have proved their success every single time! Mr. Simple has been selling like crazy! And the most important thing, the fans, we are not tired yet… Why this then?

This was unexpected, but there may be a reason besides GDA (I know everyone is thinking in that right now). Let’s hope for a good explanation from them and perhaps this time they will say the true and be honest in that matter. I have something in mind and is not related to GDA, perhaps I’m wrong…SM time to make your move and quickly before not only ELF but also others fanclubs start going bersek against you.

So why this makes many ELF angry? Well because of GDA most of all and because Ver.A is the album that will always be counted in for the award. Without Ver. A available, there is still doubt if Ver. B and C will be take into account, but apparently Ver.C is.
Now we are facing a problem, if version A isn’t available then it’s time to focus in other versions, most of all in Ver.C.
But what to do about Ver.A? Well we can start by organising ourselves and start a petition with good arguments. One argument that can work is that Ver.A presents 10 different covers and many ELF are looking to collect all the covers. There is no doubt of SJ popularity overseas (Facebook numbers can help as an indicator) and many i-ELF want to collect all the covers. Nevertheless they can only do this little by little due to shiping price. Now with the year end holidays many were looking foward to buy 1 or 2 or more of this Ver.A covers. that’s why demand can be specialy high in this period of the year.
So please instead of ranting and hating let’s focus all our energy in finding a proper solution to convince SM to continue printing Ver.A.
My fellow ELF hate will not lead us anywhere. It’s time to think STRAIGHT and not let’s us take a path lead by FEAR.

Have you checked eBay? I couldn’t find Min’s cover, but I found it on there. I’m trying to get at least two/three more albums. I really wanted to get them all… :< I only have Min and Teukie's… not counting the other versions of Mr. Simple. SM has never officially stated that they will stop producing Version A. The sources for this article are kinda iffy.
Yes… Ver A has been out of stock in most Korean stores since the THIRD WEEK it was released.
There could be many reasons for this. I don’t think that SM is purposely trying to screw SJ over or anything. SM is biased towards only one thing: MONEY!
My speculation: there a lot of ver B and ver C still available in certain stores and SM doesn’t want those returned because that would be a waste of their money. Therefore, they are hoping ELF will buy those versions before restocking ver A.
Also… there are still Version A available at Lee’s Music and other Korean stores (Hot Tracks is only one store. The most popular branch, but still only one brand.) There are also Version A available through YesAsia KPOPTOWN and DVD Heaven.
If ELF really want to buy Version A, then they can find a way.
I am unsure as to why this rumor about SM not restocking ver A is just now becoming controversial. Version A has NEVER been properly stocked. Even Sungmin couldn’t find any at the Hot Tracks store he went to months ago.
The absence of ver A has been in news articles in Korea. That is why it is such a huge deal that SM has sold so many albums.
You see… The reason our Gaon numbers match our Hanteo numbers more accurately than most other groups’ is because Hanteo measures actual sales from store counters while Gaon measures shipments from distributors to stores.
Seeing as stores are can’t seem to keep Ver A (and possibly other versions) in stock, it makes sense that SJ has such high Hanteo numbers.
Instead of focusing on awards and proving things, we should take this as positive news as well. Stores can’t seem to keep SJ’s album in stock because it is actually selling!!!
Anyways… I know that many of you will not listen to what I am saying and will only let your anger towards SM fester, but please remember that SJ has a lot of respect for their company. We also need to think of their reputation. Let’s not act too rashly.

Lee Soo Man isn’t even in charge of SM anymore… and seriously… SJ treated quite well. Much better than TRAX, Zhang Li Yin, and J-Min. They are even treated better than TVXQ, Kangta, BoA, f(x), and SHINee this year.
It’s fine to be upset with the company because they don’t treat SJ as well as we want them to, but I think “cruel” is a little too strong of a word.
The one thing SM does that upsets me the most is not letting them rest more, but SJ wouldn’t really rest if they had they opportunity because they are all known as workaholics. And as has been seen by, both of SM’s top 2 groups is lacking rest this year.
It’s quite appropriate to rally and support SJ if their company is failing in providing the fans with what they want, but calling names is not the way to do it. A legitimate, well-thought-out argument launched through the right channels is how things should work.

Yes… but that doesn’t mean that defaming their company will protect them.
It will only allow others to continue the bashing of SM artists (including SJ) as being under slave contracts.
I am not trying to say that ELF shouldn’t continue to passionately fight for SJ and support them with love and provision, but logic is needed instead of conspiracy theories based on rumors.

Actually Lee Soo Man is the one who was in charge of SJ’s production for 5jib and is EXTREMELY respected by SJ.
They love him.
We should never attack him personally even if he has wronged them. He is a human being too.

about u saying that one of the reason maybe that there are too many ver B and ver C at stores, I don’t agree with u~ I have a friend who is in charge of ordering SJ’s albums in my country and months ago when ver B was released it took really really long time to receive ver B. I asked her why she said that her partner in Korea said that it’s because SM produced ver B so little and slowly =.=
And about money, yeah I agree with u SM is still a business and loves money and there is no way it refuses money by stop producing album~But have u ever thought about this? if they want some other groups to win illegally, they have to use either of these ways. No.1: use MONEY to buy the organizers. No.2: Stop producing album. U still lose money in either way. But losing money in producing album is more “legal” because we really can’t have any valid evidence, so SM can avoid all the criticism from us in the future~In short, we fans can’t do anything about it~

You said your friend couldn’t find ver B but from what I have heard, there are indeed plenty of ver C. And as we know… ver B or C has been online for a while as well.
Why would SM want a group to win illegally against another group that belongs to them. That would be counter-intuitive to spend money just so one of your own groups can win against another group of yours.
Your argument is full of the notion that SM is a company that cares about the happiness of one group over the happiness of another group with absolutely no care for profit.
Truthfully… winning GDA will change absolutely nothing for either — or SJ.
Everyone knows that both groups sold HUGE amounts of physical albums and have gained popularity around the world.
SJ and —- don’t even make most of their money from album sales. It is from concerts, merchandise and CFs (Korean for —-… international for SJ).
SM is not as invested in the fanwar between — and ELF as many of you all tend to think.
They want money…. money… and money…

all in all, i just dont know what to believe anymore. not getting angry over this is inevitable. but not considering some of ur points is foolish too. but in my opinion, there’re some reasons why they would want —- to be ahead, IF, they really wish it to be so. firstly, —- is still young, and fresh, and we are all aware of that. therefore, their future is still bright. secondly, they’re —-. they dont have mandatory hiatus like our boys. so if they could constantly be on top, they would fool many that they’re good. (ok, really a bad assumption, but still, a point to be scrutinized.) thirdly, they were shaped from training years to be singers, unlike SJ, just some leftovers of —- (As claimed by SooMan himself). though i know SJ will stay around longer than —- (and i strongly believe in this), —- still get paid more than SJ (a fact we are well-aware of) and my point is, no matter how hard we tried, SJ is still being underrated by SM. so, if things like they claimed in the article really happen, you dont know how bad things will turn out for Sm. and i believe, it’s not possible if ELF from all over the world bash SM for this.

And just like Suju they are just like a chessman played by Sment for their own use (as in: making money, management etc). it’s because Suju did something very well that in korean media plays an important role: emotions and using them to attach fans/viewers. Suju’s real talent is attaching people through emotions. They are basically one of the best idols in that aspect.

Seriously why is history repeating itself?! It was like that for last year’s GDA, sj had to sacrifice the award that they wanted so much for SS3. And now their world tour. Well, I have to say that this news really shocked me but since there’s no official news on this issue about SM stopping album printings, let’s not all get worked up about it. Honestly, threats about burning the company down won’t help at all. LSM isn’t even able to see all these comments. We should instead look at how to help our boys. If we can’t do anything about album sales, then we should channel our efforts into voting. Voting for GDA is important too. Also, as absurd as it may sound, if a huge bunch of us comment on SM’s website or Facebook page, they may reconsider printing the albums again, because I do believe that they won’t leave our concerns unaddressed.
I started off as a Sone & I still am I. SNSD introduced me to SJ & made me an ELF. I love both groups equally but I hope that SJ gets to bag the grand prize for the upcoming GDA, because it’s their last chance. SNSD is still young & still has opportunities coming their way.
I’ve seen a couple of objective posts before when there’s relation to SNSD but I’m glad this post ended stating that we SHOULDN’T pit ourselves against other fandoms because I believe most ELFs see SNSD as a strong competitor.

Guys, I feel like SM stopped producing Mr Simple Version A Albums because they want SNSD. Sorry it’s just that last year it was very painful to watch Leeteuk cry in GDA and it was SUJU’s year to win. I seriously do not know what to say. If all this is true then wow, this is seriously absurd and very unfair. I’m sure it is expensive to be making this kind of album but this is something that the company came up with. It’s their job to be producing the album like all the other older albums.

I can’t believe that they would actually go on a two-year hiatus… I haven’t been a fan for long and I was determined to see SS4 when they came to America but not being able to see them active for two years is too much…

ANSWER:
I think Eeteuk was like that even before joining SMent as a trainee. haha. And yes: his character could be very destructive indeed. He would be able to go either way as long as it is within his principles and logic. It’s good that he chose the way he is going. And yes: this allowed him to protect his members well. Actually it’s good that Leeteuk needed to train as long as he did, because this led him to tresure his bandmate more and probably gave him an even higher sense of responsibility in terms of protection them. Actually his character is very fitting for a public person and leader since he won’t be swept by emotions, yet depends on them passivly (as for example his desire for recognition). But: this specific bound to emotions also makes him an “hidden danger”… he may have a sudden burst and that sudden burst may lead to an decision/action beyond his logic or to an destructive reaction. As long as he keeps some room for his emotions and smaller waves of letting them out it’s ok.

strangely, i do agree with you. i’ve been thinking hard about that, like kangin with his temper and quite a temper he has there, kyu being evil, yesung being unable to really adapt into the society, donghae needing to be led by others, and heechul being 4-D, on and on, these are all real indeed. and again, yes, teukie really need to be the way he is now, but again, it’s a hidden danger, like u said. i couldnt agree more. hyukkie is so truthful, and pure, while teukie is someone who could change to be favoured by the situation. but again, he’s the only one like that, and its him being himself, like the others are being themselves. i guess u watched 5000 questions? the one they had with yesung, heechul and yesung, teukie is indeed one person who pursues power and extremely ambitious. for someone like him, he just wouldnt care about anything and would just go forward. sometimes, well, he even neglected others, especially those who couldnt really talk or entertain, like yesung. and this is obviously noticeable during their impromptu talk, kind of. but of course, everybody just loves to neglect my yesung. LOL. but again, i really hope his hidden identity would benefit SJ, and if he were to encounter a breakdown, pls let it be destructive to others, and not SJ members. thats all i could hope for.

Haha I actually don’t have much to comment on that. I basically agree
I think Kyu got more mature after his accident and being treated harshly by the other members in the beginning (because before he has had it rather easy, jugding from what we know, that is). As for Kangin: indeed a temper and actually his character is not exactly suitable for an public person even if he is charming in his own way. Yesung may seem like he is unable to adapt, but I think he is just restricitng himself due to rather low-selfconfidence (which actually got much better in the recent years). Also I think he is able to talk and entertain in a very own way and I think Teuk is aware of this and might even take it as “danger” (since Yesung already has the “singing” position within Suju, making him get an entertaining position and supporting him in it may seem like something that should be avoided, not for himself, but for the group). Donghae…I think Donghae actually has his own head and knows what to do without following others. He takes a supportive role (same as Ryewook) when he actually has quality to be a leader in a philosophic way (as in his views on live and character may be calming, devoted and very logic in an emotional way). Heechul is freedom loving, as he has strong individuality, very strong ideals, emotion and being very sensitive (to himself, but also towards other peoples feelings), which seems like kinda making it hard for him to adapt and moody, yet at the same time very aware of this and actually an very logic and analyting person, which is easy to misunderstand. Eunhyuk indeed is a trueful person, takes emotions very serious as well as relationships (all kind of them). Seems like he doesn’t need to be “number one” but is ambitious in his own way. Also has very high ideals and patience. He is not simple as he seems I think.
Same as Teuk I think Sungmin is quite a cunning person.
I left out “seems to” and “I think” and such expression just take it I wrote them.

haha also: I hope it won’t be destructive to nobody. Leeteuk should use it to set an example and lead younger generations well.

actually, thats exactly what i wanted to say, that teuk is worried that someone would take his position away from him. but yes, yesung has really low self-confidence, and he’s not that good to be on his own except when he sings. but i really like kyu’s stand. he’s like, indestructible. but all in all, i agree with your summary. LOL. sungmin is cunning, and yet, maybe bcoz he’s not in the upper level of age, he has to restrict himself very much. sometimes he looks very sad. but i think i’m very much like teukie. LOL. but i’m not that hardworking pursuer. he’s very hardworking, and of course, thats a result of a very harsh training. being like that is really tiring you know, since u have to cup up all the true emotions u have and plaster something not really real. i wonder for how long will he be able to contain all those emotions.

Hm … Yesung even seems to be a bit insecure when he sings at times… I think he is controlling his singing to much (maybe because he is afraid to become a bad singer if he doesn’t controll it). It kinda keeps him from developing a more artistic singing, his technics and voice are very nice already…all he lacks is an “inner freedom”, which would release those abilities, which I believe he actually has for quite some time.
Haha yes I do like Kyu’s stand a lot as well.
Sungmin not in the upper level of age? Within Suju? well… Sungmin was born 1986 which makes him right “middle aged”, having hyungs and dongsaengs rather equally. I think what has resticted him is his “cute” image, which I think he should get rid off if he wants to stay sane (seriously: acting all cute… will drive a person sooner or later crazy). And I completly agree on that he looks sad at times.

Leeteuk being hardworking…I think it’s not a result of the training, but of his desire to be recognized. As long has he is praised in some way Leeteuk will work hard to the extend of giving up himself (which is very sad).
I am aware of how hard it is to cup up true emotions. Indeed hard. For Leeteuk’s sake I hope he will get sick of it and find out who he truely is. Because fully understanding himself will make him stronger and happier.

right. thats one thing i’m quite unhappy about yesung. he has to learn to release his ability to the top notch, or else, if SM forgot about him later (and i really think thats very likely to happen), he might be forgotten as well. and i really dont want that to happen. T_T

same as for any member: Sm won’t forget about them as long as they make money. Also… I think Yesung (outside suju) will have a rather stabil singing carrer, with a stable fanbase….I think he should do some more musicals and other solo projects to find out what exactly he wants to do and how he wants to do it (but I think he already knows quite well which path to walk).

I’m so freakkin pissed off at this, but at the same time, I know that like everything else, this will be regarded as air to SME. They put their money into other groups *I won’t mention a specifik group* but they cheap out on Suju. The lack of money put into Suju’s videos since years back, unfair treatment and now this! this is sickening! if this news is true then it’s really obvious. sment is really doing their “assignment” in making sure to slowly make the world accept that super junior is already nearing its (can’t find the right word, sorry) “bye-bye” time. i mean, why in the world they would decide not to reproduce the album anymore when it’s the main thing to get the much coveted gda? maybe sment wants suju not to win any major awards anymore so they could have a “valid reason” when they face the world to say: “we’ll breaking up super junior”…

*This is the whole situation from my point of view*
SM had planned disbanding Super Junior in 2011 or whatever. But ELFs noticed SM treating them in a strange way, so they began supporting the boys even harder by buying lots of albums, letting them be on the top on various music pages etc.
Due to this, SM wasn’t able to stop making promotions etc. for their successful artists all of a sudden (because they could probably get suspicion from press). So they want to prevent ELFs supporting SJ to let SJ apply to “non-appreciated” artists and suspend them finally.
And you know….I think Super Junior themselves realized this as well…..or SM already informed them.
Ugh, I hope it’s not like this!!!! And if it is, SUPER JUNIOR and ELF FIGHTING!! ♥

I’m with you. There’s still some places that have ver A. So instead of saying some things our oppas would be ashamed to read, lets go buy whatever is left of the copies and keep voting. Actions are worth more than any words. You wanna prove SM they are wrong for this then lets show them by proving how popular and loved SuJu is. Honestly? “It is their job to reprint albums whether they like it or not” is one of the most ridiculous and entitled comments I’ve seen yet. SM are only obliged to fulfil orders which have already been placed and paid for. Other than that, it’s their choice what product they offer. Just as it’s our choice which product we buy.
And realistically speaking, once the GDA votes are counted, sales of Version A (and B) are probably going to drop. If I was SM, i would be planning to scale down production as well, just for that reason. If people think this is wrong – i.e. because they really genuinely want to keep buying the record – then they need to be telling this to SM and the retailers, not making idiotic and foul mouthed posts on this website. I’m willing to bet that Super Junior themselves would be appalled by some of the comments I’ve read here.

Wow i think everything is just being blown out of proportions here. There is no official statement that they are going to stop production for Version A right? We should all calm down and encourage everyone to vote for Suju for GDA daily!

I think we should all relax, I know how much wining the GDA means to suju, to the elfs. Everytime I see news of sm mistreating suju I feel very sad and disappointed. But seriously, there is little we can do. Even to protest, what can we achieve? So why don’t we just focus on other aspects of the GDA like the voting and purchase whatever ver a b and c then we can!
